VisionSign Launch (club) Fri 3 Oct 1930hrs The Cube Cinema "VisionSign" kicks off on Friday night with the official launch event at the Cube. This is an opportunity for festival goers to relax together, network, familiarize themselves with the weekend schedule, and get a taste of the range of films screening during the festival. Opening highlights include the premiere of "Freedom of Hands", made by Deaf Youth Members of Deaf Club, plus a selection of contemporary shorts, BSL meets anarchism in "God Save the Queen", an interpretation of the Sex Pistols classic punk anthem and "The Lost Reels" is a touching portrait of the directorÕs parents, one of whom is Deaf and Blind. "Skye" is an acclaimed psychedelic supernatural short following a young Deaf woman trying to come to terms with her mother's death. "DEF", which focuses on a Deaf boy with aspirations of being a rapper is previewed. Silent film "Signs of Life", commissioned by Statement Media and Arts Development, will be projected onto the outside of the building. Full programme notes will be available at the screening.
